The "Our" Factor

Our Independence's golden jubilee is in 2yrs time.We have experienced self rule for over 48yrs, believe it or not.. I love the fact that we say "WE" instead of saying" THEY'" have experienced. In a country where the citizens are obsessed with the the word "THEY" , I believe this should be taken into thought.

We as the Citizens of Kenya need to own Our "Self rule". We need to read the History books if we are to re-write them. A phrase on a local advert  caught my attention once: When you know where you coming from, you will know where you heading...... So i have a questions for Kenyans; do we really know where we coming from? Or did we even come from the place?

When our freedom fighters were fighting for "Our" independence, as Kenyans; did we know what we wanted? Did we have a plan on how to run "Our" beloved country? Did we understand that we were to take the whole country of Kenya as "Our" collective responsibility? Did we know that we were to work on "Our" cohesiveness since it was the tool that the colonial government used to establish and sustain their rule?

Did we premeditate on the stumbling blocks that we were to face to alleviate "Our" poverty, disease and ignorance? Did we rush, in giving leadership to "Our" individuals based on popularity other than on merit? Did we understand "Our" priorities?

Did we embrace "Our" diversity? Did we view each other as having equal importance for the development of "Our" country Kenya? Did "We" plan? Did "We" view the government as "Ours" by the fact that its a representation of "Us"?..... Did we stop pointing fingers at and complaining about "Our" government? Did we start caring about "Our" people? Did we start embracing and accepting "Our" different ethnic groups as ONE PEOPLE CALLED KENYANS?
